Helping you get back on track after Concussion
AVC have partnered with Dr Tim Butson at Beach Brain, in association with Workcover Queensland, and an extensive multidisciplinary team to provide the State's first private concussion clinic, allowing multidisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation for mild traumatic brain injury. The first private clinic of its kind, it is modelled off the success of Dr Butson's public hospital clinic which has been in operation for some time; both services are unique in this space and are leading the State in optimising outcomes for those experiencing concussion.
Concussion and Dizziness
Up to 79% of people report dizziness and 56% report balance issues post-concussion.
The vestibular system is a small and fragile structure located in the inner ear within the skull. Trauma to the head can cause damage to the vestibular system.
What can you expect?
The Beach Brain Multidisciplinary Concussion Clinic is a 6 week rehabilitation program aimed at reducing symptoms and improving function in those with concussion. The clinic is overseen by Dr Tim Butson and treatment includes expert physiotherapy with AVC, exercise physiology, occupational therapy and dietician. There are typically 12 sessions across the 6 weeks however treatment isadjustable depending on what you need.
