100x66

Meniere’s Disease is an often debilitating condition that causes episodes of dizziness, ear pressure/fullness, hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), imbalance, nausea and vomiting. It is caused by an accumulation of fluid within the inner ear .

nn

One of the first line treatments for Meniere’s Disease is through reducing your intake of salt, caffeine and alcohol which may help to keep your fluid/blood levels more stable and reduce the fluctuations causing these episodes.

n

The recommended daily intake of sodium is 2300mg (~1 teaspoon), it is recommended to restrict this to 100mg for those with Meniere’s Disease.

Eating less salt doesn’t need to be difficult! Make sure to read food labels, ask for low salt meals at restaurants and choose fresh fruits and vegetables which are naturally low in salt.
